DESCRIPTION

 

Day 1 QUITO – YANACOCHA RESERVE

 We will be leaving at 5:00am from the hotel in Quito to Yanacocha. This Beautiful place is situated very close to the Pichincha volcano and around 3500 m above sea level. There we can find species like: Scarlet-Bellied Mountain-Tanager, Masked Flowerpiercer, Lacrimosu Mountain-Tanager, Collared Trogon, Rainbow-Berded Thornbill, Mountain Velvetbreast, Great Saphirewing, Buff-Winged Starfronted.

Please take a lunch box with you.

 

 

 Day 2 PAPALLACTA AND GUANGO

 We will leave Quito again at 5:00am to go to the Paramo which is located 4000 m above sea level. In this place we can see species like: Andean Teal, Yellow-Bellied Pintail, Variable Hawk, Andean Gull, Giant Hummingbird, Mountain Avocetbill, Tuomaline Sunangel, Tawny Antpitta, Buff-Breasted Mountail-Tanager, Cinnamon Flycatcher, Bra-Winged Cinclodes, Plunbeous Sierra-finch…
Aferwards we will go to Guango to see a great variety of hummingbirds.

 

 

 Day 3 COTOPAXI NATIONAL PARK AND LINPIOPUNGO LAGOON

 We will start our journey at 5:00am to the National Park Cotopaxi. In the park we can admire the Cotopaxi volcano and the beautiful landscape. Furthermore we can find species like: Andean Lapwing, Andean gull, Cinereuos Conebill, Andean Coot, Andean Ruddy Duck, Band-Tailed Seedeater, Ash-Breasted Sierra Finch.

On the way back to Quito we can go through the list of birds seen during the whole day.

 

Day 4 ANTISANA
 
In the morning we will go for the Antisana Reserve, located about 2 hours from Quito. There we will find small sections of forest and it is possible to see interesting birds like Tufted Tit-tyrant or Cinereous, Conebill. Then we will go to the Highlands areas, where we will find: Andean Condor, (sometimes it is possible to find Black Chested Buzzard-Eagle,) Many-Striped Canastero ,Carunculated Caracara , Stout-Billed Cinclodes, Andean Lapwing, Plumbeous Sierra Finch an other. In the afternoon, we will go to a lake where we see rare species like Silvery Grebe, Andean Teal, Andean Gull . In the area, we have lunch, and then we go back birding along the way.
Return to Quito.
